DESCRIPTION

AZtecGSR is an application module for AZtecFeature. It is not a standalone product. You must already own and have installed AZtecFeature on your acquisition PC. Because AZtecGSR runs inside AZtecFeature, it inherits the same hardware compatibility: it works with every Oxford Instruments EDS detector and with any SEM or FIB-SEM that already runs AZtec.

Gunshot Residue is a key piece of forensic evidence that is often critical to ensuring justice in some of the most serious crimes. AZtecGSR provides fast, accurate and easy to use SEM-based GSR analysis for the forensic analyst.

Designed for analysis according to industry best practice guidelines, AZtecGSR uses a workflow-based approach to guide both expert and novice users through GSR analysis, with in-interface instructions for additional guidance. It includes advanced functionality for dealing with the very small particles often found in GSR work, and approaches for improving throughput when running a large number of samples.

Customiser for GSR:

•  Optimised analytical recipe for GSR analysis

•  Automatic data collection and particle classification to ASTM-E1588 16, 17, 20 and 25

•  Classification scheme that indicates which brand of ammunition may have been used

•  Manual and automatic particle reacquisition modes, with a confirmation routine for reacquired particles

Flexible:

•  Add new classifications for new ammunitions

•  Automatically acquire additional data from particles containing key elements

•  Terminate analyses automatically once sufficient evidence has been acquired

•  Use the same software platform to follow up with other techniques such as EBSD

Fast:

•  Analysis rates in excess of 120,000 particles per hour, dependent on hardware configuration

•  Combine up to four Ultim Max Infinity detectors for maximum throughput

•  Manage multiple analysis runs simultaneously

Certainty:

•  2-pass imaging for small particle accuracy without compromising speed

•  Routinely used globally to detect 100% of particles on PLANO and ENFSI test samples

•  Image calibration sample and software ensure particles are detected the same way every run

•  Automatic compensation for changes to image contrast and brightness during a run

•  Accurate element identification and quantification with Tru-Q IQ algorithms, even at the highest throughput

Applications:

Forensic casework, GSR screening and reporting, and light element GSR from heavy-metal-free primers when used with Ultim Extreme.
