These Dumont® type 5 tweezers with pure platinum wrapped tips measure 38mm from tip to shoulder. The very fine points permit easy pick up of grids. The tips can be sterilised in a flame, and are resistant to many corrosive liquids.
These tweezers are designed for corrosive liquids and heat sterilisation of the tweezer tip.They are also used to clean apertures, but only under the following conditions:
Aperture held by tweezer must be passed quickly through the flame, avoiding the hottest (blue) portion of the flame. It should be in the flame for no more than two seconds.
If the tweezers stay in the flame too long the platinum will adhere to the aperture and the points will spread.
The user must always remember it is the force of the flame rather than the heat which cleans the aperture.
