AZtecSteel

51A1035

A dedicated package developed specifically for the analysis and classification of speciality steels. The inclusions are detected, measured and analysed using AZtecFeature and the resulting data set is then processed using Inclusion Classifier. Inclusion Classifier is a software package designed to process steel inclusion data to the standard methods.

DESCRIPTION

AZtecSteel is an application module for AZtecFeature. It is not a standalone product. You must already own and have installed AZtecFeature on your acquisition PC. Because AZtecSteel runs inside AZtecFeature, it inherits the same hardware compatibility: it works with every Oxford Instruments EDS detector and with any SEM or FIB-SEM that already runs AZtec.

Steel inclusion analysis in the SEM is made more efficient and accurate by AZtecSteel. It is an automated steel inclusion analysis package developed specifically for the analysis and classification of steel inclusions using Energy Dispersive X-ray microanalysis (EDS) in a scanning electron microscope (SEM). It detects, measures and analyses the inclusions, processes the resulting data set to published standard methods, and includes functionality to plot complex ternary diagrams.

AZtecSteel is the leading global solution for the detection and analysis of non-metallic inclusions in steel using SEM and EDS. It is a tailored version of the AZtecFeature particle analysis platform, fully optimised for non-metallic inclusion analysis, and it includes Inclusion Classifier.

Steel cleanliness to published standard methods:

Inclusion Classifier will determine steel cleanliness using the following published methods:

•  ASTM E2142 (E45), E2283 and E796-7

•  SIS 111116

•  DIN 50602

•  ISO 4967

•  EN 10247

•  JIS G0555

•  NFA 04-106

•  GBT 30834

What it delivers:

•  Automated detection, measurement and analysis of non-metallic inclusions across the whole sample

•  Automatic processing of the resulting data set to the published standard methods listed above

•  Functionality to plot complex ternary diagrams for inclusion composition

•  Classification of inclusions across the population, not just the ones an operator happens to find

•  Accurate element identification and quantification with Tru-Q algorithms, even at the highest throughput

Applications:

•  Steel cleanliness analysis and certification to international standards

•  Speciality and high alloy steels

•  Rod and tyre cord wire, including the Pirelli method

•  Rare earth element treated steels and complex inclusion populations

•  Boride and nitride non-metallic inclusions, using a windowless detector such as Ultim Extreme for light elements

Works with the rest of the AZtec suite

Inclusions of interest can be relocated and investigated further using WDS, EBSD and complementary EDS techniques without leaving the software.
