COURSE NAME: AZtec Feature Course 
COURSE DURATION: 1 day

AZtec Feature is Oxford Instruments’ automated particle and feature analysis program for the AZtec EDS system. 

This course consists of 1 days of in-house training and consists of presentations and instruction from a live EDS system.

 Course Objectives:

  • Train the user on how to optimize analytical conditions and software parameters for different materials and applications.
  • Have the user understand the basic concepts of particle and Feature analysis
  • The user becomes comfortable in filtering and exporting all possible data from Aztec Feature.

Course Outline:

  • Introduction to Particle analysis.
  • Overview of AZtec Feature software:
    1. Particle detection and thresholding and multiple thresholding
    2. Image processing
    3. Spectrum acquisition and morphological measurements.
    4. Setting up user created classes.
    5. Creating areas for analysis and Stage Layouts.
    6. Feature Phase. Grey level mapping and automatic phase identification.
    7. Data display including scatter plots, ternary plots, and histograms.
    8. Data export.
  • How to interpret data and results.

Note: This course does not cover AZtec Mineral nor AZtec Steel. For training on AZtec Mineral and Steel, please contact Oxford Instruments customer support in your territory for information on more training options. It is recommended that anyone attending this course should be familiar with the AZtec EDS system or have attended one the AZtec EDS courses prior to attending this class.

It is recommended that before attending a course, the student is familiar with general electron microscopy and basic principles of their analytical system. In addition to courses at our training facilities and online, Oxford Instruments can provide an Applications Specialist onsite to train lab users on your own system. This allows the course to be tailored to your specific needs and applications.
